Introducing Childline wallet cards, with thanks to the NSPCC.

We are always busy thinking of new ways to improve our kits, ensuring we continue to deliver on our mission of providing dignity and comfort to those who need it in hospital. To that end, we were thrilled this week to receive 200 Childline wallet cards, very generously donated by the NSPCC (National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children).

For many of those moving through emergency departments on their way to foster homes and radically altered lives, having a trusted source of support and advice is essential. This is where the wallet card comes in: a small token which could be the difference between having someone to voice concerns to, or having nobody at all.

Two designs for primary school and secondary school age groups will provide concise information about Childline, and how to access the service, to those who receive our kits. Hopefully, alongside all the other small items we provide, this makes a difficult time in hospital (and beyond) that bit easier by alleviating some measure of mental distress and discomfort, in an especially turbulent time for a child or young person.

We have wanted to include an expression of goodwill or mental health support in our kits for some time, but needed a solution that did not breach the crucial barrier of anonymity between ourselves and those that make use of our kits. All of us at Caring Kits for Kids are therefore incredibly grateful to the NSPCC for providing such a valuable resource, which allows both charities to pursue our complementary aims of supporting children and young people in times of need.

I am thrilled to end the year on a high with this news and am looking forward to seeing these cards in every backpack we deliver from now onwards.

All the best this festive season and Happy New Year!
