Summer Update
Caring Kits for Kids continues to grow.
Since February we have begun working with three more hospitals, delivering 10 kits to Ipswich Hospital in Suffolk and with the help of the Lions (read below) 6 kits to Worthing Hospital and 6 kits to St Richard’s Hospital in West Sussex.
In London, our new Area Lead Kalina co-ordinated deliveries of 24 kits to North Middlesex University Hospital and 24 kits to St George’s University Hospital.
Thanks to Nick, Peter, Stuart, James, Kalina, Desi, Martin, Simon, Steve, Raymond and Namwalongo from Alstom who made these deliveries possible, we could not have done it without you!
Changes to the kits.
Our delivery in Ipswich and London included the NSPCC’s Childline wallet cards for the first time, each card being a hugely valuable resource, providing a phone number and source of expert advice for young people in challenging circumstances.
Grants for good causes.
In April, we were thrilled to hear that we had made the shortlist for a round of funding from Tesco’s Community Grants Scheme in the Birmingham area. Caring Kits for Kids was one of three charities, chosen for their potential impact in and around the local area. Tesco customers in 13 stores were asked to vote for their favourite project. The project with the most votes will be given £1500 in funding, the second most-voted project receiving £1000 and the third receiving £500. Voting closed at the end of June and we are now eagerly waiting on the edge of our seats for the result!
A roaring success story.
When we were asked to supply some kits to Worthing and St Richard’s Hospital in West Sussex, an area we’d not supplied before, we were really keen to involve an enthusiastic group on the ground who might be able to offer some local help.
We were thrilled that after approaching the Chichester Lions Club they agreed to shop, pack and deliver a selection of our kits!
Working with the Chichester Lions Club was such a success we hope to use this model for future deliveries, so if your group is interested in getting in on the Caring Kits for Kids action get in touch!
